We were going to go live in 30 minutes time, and somehow Zoom seems to be acting up. With endless amount of logging in and out, restarting Zoom, creating a new channel everything doesn’t seem to work. I told both Aaron and John to inform Facebook and YouTube that there was going to be a slight delay due to technical issues, and they were busy managing the feed and we received a massive support while we try to get the system up and running. It was already 8:08 PM and we’re already behind schedule. That was when Josh suggested we try Google Meet, without hesitation I gave him the green light to start hosting the session and we moved there. 8:11 PM everyone was in, and the speaker was still trying to get used to interface. Once everything was ready, we finally went live at 8:15 PM. While we’re still trying to adapt to the new system we are using, everything seems to be fine right up to the first speaker.
He was starting to have issues with his share screen function and couldn’t get it to run. After trying to guide him the first round he still couldn’t get it to work, I quickly got Josh to switch to the second speaker who was using a pre-recorded video and mute our end. While the second speaker video was running, I went back in to guide the first speaker to set up his slides. Once his slides were up, it was time to get the rest to take a deep breath and calm down. After the second speaker finished his session, the first speaker was ready and transition to the last speaker went smoothly completing the session without anymore issues.
No doubt there were calls, and messages asking me what was going on. I was truly blessed with a team that was able to brace the perfect storm. Despite what we went through last night, I thank God for everyone who prayed for us and continue to give us encouragement despite the ship seems as if it was going to break at some point.
Michael Jr said God gave us weaknesses so that we can keep practising on them, and when the time comes training is over and it’s game time. Looking back at my life, the experiences I went through truly made me who I am today. Deluxe made a comment to me earlier this year, telling me that how in the world I could remain so calm despite of the problem we were in. I jokingly told her maybe that’s what programmer do, it’s a try-catch situation. When we try something, in the event it fails our program will catch it and the program still goes on without crashing.
Maybe there’s a reason why God allowed me to go through years of pain at a very early age in life. Decision needs to be made without hesitation, where I would be the “catch” should the “try” failed. No doubt it was painful, but at least I can understand now why I’ve gone through the things I’ve been through. Yes, things may not necessary go our way but God indeed had always prepared me to face any storms in life and make sure that I will see the perfect outcome. And it finally paid off when I had to change a whole training program overnight, our airport incident when going back to Miri for Chinese New Year early this year, and even with last night Live Stream. Never the less, all glory goes to God and I thank Him for calming the storm in me.
Jesus Calms the Storm
35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
