This is by far one of the greatest app that could actually help you lose weight.  But you must be honest with yourself and key in your particulars of everything that you put in your mouth.  This actually will help you manage your calories intake, and if you are within your limit you should lose weight.  Plus you can actually link with Strava that could help you input into your exercise part, causing you to be able to eat more on that day.  Never the less do check out My Fitness Pal either on their website or download their mobile app which is available on IOS and Google Play.
